The second generation computers were not a successful run. The computer was so big that when you would turn it on, there would be an absurd amount of dust and the computer it would heat up too quickly. In 1947 a device called the transistor is used to control the electricity inside of the computer and it's electricity circuit. The reason why the transistor tubes were created was because they are faster, smaller and they are more likely to work better than a vacuum. The first generation computers didn't have the transistor that's why the first generation computers didn't work as well as the second generation computers. In 1963, there was a development called the American Standard Code For Information Interchange, or in the short form it's called (ASCII) This program was made for other computers to exchange information with other computers. For 15 years the (ASCII) wasn't used for anything. It was just out there in case people needed to use (ASCII) and send information to other people and computers. In 1964 a company called IBM had made a new computer called the system360. The system360 changed the way people looked at computers. People started to like what the system360 did. The system360 was mainly based for people who were in business.
